About us
Lease Legal is a law firm in Brisbane. Between our senior lawyers we have more than 60 years of experience with leases — homes, business premises and shops, for landlords and tenants alike.
Why we built this
We kept meeting people at the wrong end of a lease. A cafe owner facing a $40,000 bill to strip out a fitout. A tenant who missed a renewal date by two weeks and lost a business they had built over eight years. A director still personally liable for a lease on a business they sold in 2019.
In almost every case, an hour of advice before signing would have changed the outcome. The problem was never the value. It was that nobody could tell them what the advice would cost.
So we fixed the price. After enough leases you stop searching for the problems — you know where they are. That experience is what makes a fixed fee possible.
How we work
- The price is agreed before we start, in writing, with a list of what we will do.
- You get an answer, not a summary. Telling you what your lease says is not advice. We tell you what to worry about and what to ask for.
- Plain English. If you need a second lawyer to understand our advice, we have not done our job.
- We will tell you when the answer is no. Sometimes the right advice is that the lease is not worth signing, or that you do not need us at all.
Every piece of advice is written and signed by a named Australian solicitor holding a current practising certificate.
$1,100
Including GST. One fee, agreed before we start, that does not change.
You get a written advice from a senior solicitor within 5 business days from receiving your documents. It points you to the clauses that matter, flags anything that is not standard, and tells you what you can push back on — plus a phone call to talk it through.
Based in Brisbane, working across Australia
Leasing law is different in every state, and we advise on leases in all of them. Nearly all of this work happens by email and phone, so where you are makes very little difference.
